Essential and preferable kit

What you should have with you at a shoot

If this is your first shoot you should bring with you;

  • Ear and eye protection

  • Your original SGC/FAC (even if you are not going to using your own gun), or if you don't have a certificate some form of official ID (e.g. Driving license, passport etc)

  • About 150 fibre wad birdshot cartridges if you have a certificate (#7.5 and #6 are the norm, no larger than #4 is permitted), if not let us know so they can be supplied at the shoot, they will be around £6.75 per box of 25

  • Suitable footwear for rough/uneven ground (Ankle/calf height sturdy boots recommended, but bring wellies if its been raining!)

  • Builders/gardening gloves (for handling barriers and resetting plates)

  • Suitable clothing for the weather (use postcode DH5 for forecasts)

  • Something to put your kit on such as a small tarp as the quarry can be muddy

  • Food/drink for the day (we normally finish 3-3:30pm and stop briefly for lunch in most cases)

  • The shoot fee of £15, preferably paid electronically as above

  • Email confirmation that you have read and agree to abide by the Introduction to PSG in the Practical shotgun safety guide tab

If you do not have a certificate you will be required to sign the Section 21 register which is a statement that you are not prohibited from handling firearms or ammunition. You are required to provide your full name and address for this and ID so this can be verified.
